Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. Travel Design representative will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer to the hotel, check in at the hotel and overnight stay in Colombo.

We wake up early in the morning have breakfast and get ready for a round of golf at the Royal Colombo Golf Club situated nearby. This prestigious course is a good introduction to golf in Sri Lanka. The Royal Colombo Golf Club, built in 1879, is a welcome escape from the hectic city centre. Located in Borella, a short distance from central Colombo, the course is a green oasis accompanied by a clubhouse of colonial charm. Listen to your attentive caddie to avoid the numerous water hazards. Despite being in the centre of Colombo, the course maintains its tranquillity. Overnight stay at the hotel in Colombo after perhaps some night shopping in the city centre.

Day - 03
Colombo > Pinnawala > Sigiriya

After breakfast transfer to Sigiriya en-route visiting Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Approximately 55 miles from Colombo, off the Colombo – Kandy road is Pinnawala, where an orphanage was started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including Baby Elephants brought from various parts, as well as the 23 babies born, as a result of the captive breeding program. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0930-1000 hrs and 1330-1400 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1030 hrs and 1400-1430 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by.
Afternoon you visit the World Heritage site of Dambulla Caves dating back to the 2nd century BC. It is the largest and best preserved cave complex in Sri Lanka with over 80 documented caves in the surrounding areas. However the major attractions are spread over 5 caves which contain statues and paintings related to Lord Buddha’s life. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Sigiriya > Polonnaruwa > Minneriya > Sigiriya

After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries AD, Polonnaruwa is another World Heritage Site. It comprises the Brahmana monuments built by the South Indian Cholas, and the ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I during the golden age of Polonnaruwa in the 12th century, Irrigation systems far superior to those of the Anuradhapura age were constructed, systems which to this day supply the water necessary for paddy cultivation during the dry season.
Later visit Minneriya National Park and do a jeep safari in Minneriya. Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectares of Minneriya National Park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to favourites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3 rd century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters.

Sigiriya > Matale > Kandy

Travel to Kandy, en-route visit the 5th century old Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The palace still has remains of four indoor swimming pools where the King’s 500 concubines bathed, a complex water arteries in the walls that provided natural air conditioning during the hot climate. The mirrors walls of the Sigiriya rock still retain the world famous frescoes of the king’s concubines, who originated from all parts of the world.
Later en-route visit Matale spice growing region for special insight to some unique Sri Lankan agriculture. First stop at a coconut plantation to learn about the multitude of uses of this fascinating tree; see how the coconut is husked and its fibbers used to make rope. Witness the collection of the sweet coconut water for a refreshing drink, the use of the coconut kernel for the extraction of coconut milk which forms the base for most Sri Lankan curries and the production of honey and sweet jaggery from sap collected from the coconut flower.
On arrival check into hotel after a brief rest we get ready to witness a cultural show dance performance. Overnight stay in Kandy.

Early this morning after breakfast, travel to the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, this was voted ‘Best Course in Asia 2005’ by Asian Golf Monthly and ranked in the ‘Top 100 Most Beautiful Courses’ by Golf Digest. The Victoria Golf and Country Resort, offers a wide range of facilities including an 18-hole golf course, putting green and practice range, Pro shop and PGA golf academy. Other sports and recreational facilities include bar and terrace dining, floodlit tennis court, Saddle club, riding lesson for adults and kids and horse safaris. There is an outdoor infinity swimming pool and an Ayurveda wellness centre offering a range of relaxing treatments. The surrounding reservoir and central hills are ideal for bird watching. In the evening we drive around Kandy Lake, built by the king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, in 1798. Visit Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts centre and gem museum. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy.

Kandy > Nuwara Eliya

Morning travel to Nuwara Eliya which was made into a summer retreat by the British in the early 1800s and much of its colonial character still remains. The town sprawls over the fertile valley flanked by Mount Pidurutalagala and Single Tree Mountain and is scattered with Victorian-style 19th century homes, bungalows, guesthouses and hotels complete with gabled roofs, large open fireplaces, gardens with neatly-clipped lawns and colourful flower beds. Spend two days golfing at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club. The testing course here was built by a Scottish soldier of the Golan Highlanders in 1889 for the British serviceman and officials stationed here in 1889. Occasionally you may even feel you are playing golf in Scotland, but the course holds many features unique to Sri Lanka. Whether it is your helpful caddie and his Sri Lankan smile, or the course’s flora and fauna you’ll be in no doubt you in one of Asia’s beautiful corners. To ensure a successful round you will need to stay clear of the trees that line the tight course, the crags and creeks that bisect the fairways and the remorseless gorse and bunkers that protect the greens. The clubhouse and bar is an atmospheric place to enjoy a drink and meal after your round. It is full of character and colonial history. En-route stop in the serene city of Galle for a city tour. Galle being a UNESCO world heritage site is a historic delight. Filled with Dutch colonial buildings, ancient churches & mosques its ambience attracts millions of travelers every year. Galle’s core or the Fort built by the Dutch in the beginning of 1663 is the most iconic structure in Galle with many historic tales and architectural essence that surround it.
