Trincomalee
Located in the North East of Sri Lanka, Trincomalee is an ancient port city which was once a well-known tourist destination. Due to civil war the port was deserted and due to the Tsunami in 2004 the port was destructed. However despite of the frightful past the port is now becoming a more and more attractive destination for sea swimming, snorkeling, diving and whale watching. Ideal for a family holiday, Trincomalee is a lesser known hidden gem of Sri Lanka with calm seas, white sandy beaches and peaceful, out of which the natural harbor of Trincomalee to be highlighted. More seriously it is home to major Sri Lankan Naval bases and Air Force base. Visitors are not to be discouraged by the infamous history and high security of Trincomalee. It is once again a safe and sunny place to enjoy a memorable holiday.
