Stafford Bungalow

Set amongst the stunning tea plantations in Sri Lanka, Stafford Bungalow is a family heritage holiday home, initially built by the pioneering Scottish planters in 1884. It is located in the outskirts of the Hill resort of Nuwara Eliya, approximately 30 minutes’ drive through the picturesque tea country and bordering the town of Ragala.

Stafford Bungalow is now open to guests to share the experience of living in this exclusive planter’s bungalow within a 50 acre working tea plantation. It is located amongst one of the finest tea fields in the world, in a private and stylish ambience. Rest and rejuvenate while enjoying the salubrious cool climes of the ‘Tea Country’, take a walk along one of the many trails that wind their way through the luscious tea bushes, or just simply enjoy freshly brewed tea and scrumptious baked scones on the perfectly manicured ‘Blue Grass’ garden, immersing in nostalgia of the days gone by.

Stafford has 4 spacious bedrooms each with its own character and ensuite bathrooms. The rooms are large and very tastefully furnished. All rooms are tastefully refurbished with teak furniture and wooden floors, and have attached bathrooms and are made up with rain water showers and elegant layout. A cosy, study/snug, adds to the charm and furnished with reading chairs. Breakfast is the traditional western style eggs with a bread basket and selection of fruits and the optional Lunch is usually a local rice and curry, with a selection of vegetables and meat dishes. ‘Stafford High Tea’ is served on the lawn with freshly baked scones replete with liberal helpings of butter, homemade jam and cream, and an assortment of sandwiches and cake, savored with sips of aromatic hill country tea which aids digestion! Dinner is a sumptuous three course meal, which includes Appu’s special ‘soup of the day’ with a basket of freshly baked bread, a main dish with wholesome vegetables and salads, and an irresistible dessert. A selection of specials from Appu’s local menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner can also be prepared on prior request.
