Overview

The Luxe Circuit in Sri Lanka is a refined journey crafted for travelers who want to experience the island’s highlights in comfort and style. Over six days, the tour weaves together cultural treasures, natural wonders, and indulgent relaxation. It begins at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where gentle giants set the tone for an unforgettable adventure. From there, you’ll ascend to the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress, explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, and marvel at the artistry of the Dambulla Cave Temple. The spice gardens of Matale and the sacred city of Kandy, home to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, add layers of heritage and spirituality. The circuit continues through the lush Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and tea plantations of Giragama, before reaching the cool climate of Nuwara Eliya, often called “Little England.” Finally, the journey winds down with golden sunsets and serene leisure at a luxury coastal hotel, where the Indian Ocean becomes your backdrop. Blending history, culture, and relaxation, the Luxe Circuit is more than a tour—it’s a curated experience of Sri Lanka’s elegance and charm.

  • Today early morning, proceed to hike the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
  • (Approx. 45 mins’ drive from the Hotel to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.)
  • The Sigiriya rock fortress is a remarkable feat of engineering and a fascinating example of artistic craftsmanship. Hewn out of the living rock, the Sigiriya fortress was the stronghold of King Kashyapa; a formidable royal palace and city. Sigiriya, or the ‘Lion Rock” is most famous for its frescoes; a series of “heavenly maidens” painted on the rock surface itself. From halfway, up the rock, you can witness the elaborately landscaped water gardens containing the royal baths and fountains; some of which still work today during the rainy seasons. Sigiriya is a still standing monument to Kashyapa, and the vision of a truly egotistical monarch.

Return to the Hotel for breakfast.

PM

  • Afternoon, proceed to visit the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa.
  • Polonnaruwa was established as Sri Lanka’s medieval capital after the fall and destruction of Anuradhapura at the hands of the Cholan invaders from India. Polonnaruwa contains various masterpieces of Buddhist sculpture and architecture, as well as, remarkable feats of engineering that are widely regarded as ahead of their time. The most famous of these masterpieces is the Gal Vihara, with its famous rock carvings of Lord Buddha; The Sacred Quadrangle, which includes the Vatadage, used to hold the Tooth of Lord Buddha; and the Parakrama Samudra, or the sea of Parakrama in English, is man-made reservoir (or tank) stretching over 23 kilometers which is prime example of the advanced engineering of that time.
