Kandy Esala Perahera

Elegant dancers, Majestic Elephants, Blazing fire breathers & above all Sri Lanka’s culture all comes together in this magnificent procession. Kandy Esala Perahera held once a year on the Esala Full Moon Poya day is one of the grand cultural events held in this island. Sri Lanka attracts millions of visitors from around the globe, especially since Sri Lanka is an adventurous experience for some yet an authentic experience to another. Perahera will be held from 5th August 2019 to 15th August 2019.

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge through the green channel if you do not have goods to be declared to customs. At the arrival terminal you will be met by our Travel Design representatives and Chauffeur guide who will greet you and assist you to the air conditioned vehicle to begin the journey to the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo!

After having a hearty breakfast proceed to Sigiriya, the rich cultural triangle of Sri Lanka.En-route visit to the Dambulla rock cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. The temple composes of five caves of varying size and magnificence. The caves, built at the base of a 150m high rock during the Anuradhapura (1st century BC to 993 AD) and Polonnaruwa times (1073 to 1250), are by far the most impressive of the many cave temples found in Sri Lanka.

After breakfast at the resort, proceed to Sigiriya; 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This world heritage site, consists of the remains of a palace on the top of the rock, a mid-level terrace that includes the Lion Gate and the mirror wall with its frescoes of the ‘Heavenly Maidens’, the lower palace on the slopes below the rock, and the moats, walls and water gardens that extend for some hundreds of meters out from the base.In the evening enjoy a game drive at Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park in 4×4 wheel jeeps, being one of the main national wildlife parks of Sri Lanka you will be able witness the unique wilderness Ceylon holds from mighty elephants to stealthy leopards, it’s got them all!

After having breakfast, check out and head over to the south coast of Sri Lanka, where mile of white sandy beaches await you!
En-route visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, one of Sri Lanka’s late kingdoms. Polonnaruwa has many iconic monuments and structures built by the kings who ruled then. Explore the Royal Palace, the Gal Vihara, the Audience Hall, the Lotus Bath, King Parakramabahu statue.

After breakfast, check out and begin the journey to Kandy, the last capital of Sri Lanka. Blessed by a cool yet calm and soothing climate, Kandy is famous for its natural beauty and landscapes. Arrive at the Kandy city where the old charms of Kandy is yet to be witnessed and is also named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel enjoy a visit and pay homage to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, which is one of the most iconic places of worship among Buddhists in Sri Lanka.After paying homage to the temple of tooth, explore the rest of the Kandy city, to see the Kandyan way of life.

At night you will get to enjoy the Kandy Esala Perahera held annually, which is a majestic procession that consists of traditional dancers, fire eater, elephants and many other traditional acts.
