Day - 01
Airport > Kandy

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. Please clear immigration & visa formalities, collect your baggage and proceed to the arrival lounge. A representative from Travel Design will page you by your name. Thereafter you will be assisted with a transfer to Kandy.
Arriving in Kandy, if you wish pay your respect to Sri Dalada Maligawa, which houses the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. The Tooth is kept in a two-story shrine fronted by two large elephant tusks and rests on a gold lotus flower, encased in jeweled casket that sits on a throne. The temple is decorated with beautiful local paintings and architectural features. Kandy is an ideal city of shopping if you wish to take any remembrance to your friends and family back home. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day - 02
Kandy > Knuckles > Matale

Early morning, check out and leave for knuckles range with packed breakfast. Start the trek to explore the water fall walking through the beautiful tea plantation and stopping by for few clicks with the breathtaking views. Trail is a mix of upward and descending gravel path only a little stretch of hard climb to reach the top of the water fall. Thereafter you will forget all your pains and worries as you take if the full impact of the scenery.
By about late afternoon complete the trek and head towards Matale. Check in to the historical bungalow that completely belongs to the mist covered mountain peaks. The bungalow runs on solar power with basic but clean facilities but very much worth the stay for the early morning views it promises. Overnight stay at the bungalow.

Day - 03
Matale

Enjoy your early breakfast, sitting in front of the valley ahead of you. Leave to explore yet another waterfall at Riverston. Visit the Pitawala Pathana also names as small worlds end, due to the sheer drop from the mountain cliff. Afterwards, take the tour inside the village where you can also have a local village lunch if you book in advance. Trek to the waterfall and enjoy a dip in the natural freshwater pond if the water levels suites safe bathing.
Return to the bungalow for overnight.

Day - 04
Matale > Nuwara Eliya

After a leisurely breakfast, travel towards the tea country world famous for Ceylon Tea. Stop on the way at Ramboda Waterfall to enjoy the beautiful view but if you dare to take another climb to the top of the fall, you can enjoy a dip here as well. Visit a Tea Factory close by where they will explain the key manufacturing steps in making black tea.
Arrive at Nuwara Eliya, also known as Little England for the colonial buildings and the cool weather in the town. Walk in the city, around the Gregory Lake and the markets before retiring to the hotel for overnight.

Day - 05
Nuwara Eliya > Horton Plains > Ella

Early morning leave with packed breakfast from the hotel for Horton Plains for a walking trek of about 4 hours. Horton Plains National Park with 3160 hectares is known as “Mahaeliya”, was named Horton Plains after Sir Robert Horton, a British Governor from 1831-1837. Horton Plains which is a National Park of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site has its unique watershed and bio-diversity values with a high level of endemism in terms of flora. Horton Plains is home for 52 species of resident birds and 11 species of migrant birds. Visit Baker’s fall and World’s End. Return to hotel check out and continue to Elle. Overnight.

Ella

After a tasteful breakfast at the guesthouse, check out and proceed to Ravana Ella and Ella Gap for divine beauty that is magical and extraordinary. Explore the wistful engineering skills at Nine Arch Bridge and the Elle Rock should you feel “in’ for another trek.
Possibility to arrange a visit to the local vegetable market at which you can purchase and also complete the day with a local cooking lesson. Overnight.

Day - 07
Ella > Udawalawe > Ratnapura > Colombo

  • Drive : About 6 ½ hours
  • Hotel : Ramada Colombo, Colombo
  • Highlights :

After a quick breakfast, check out and commence the journey to Colombo, a longest of the tour, with adequate stops along the way to experience local culture, cuisine and experiences. Stop at Elephant Transit home in Udawalawe and a stop at Sri Sumana Saman Devalaya in Ratnapura.
Arrive at Colombo, hop on an evening Tuk-Tuk ride for some last minute shopping covering some of the main sites in Colombo including Independence Square and Arcade, Galle Face Green, Gangarama Temple, Seema Malaka Temple, Vibrant markets of Pettah and shopping in the city center. Overnight stay will be in Colombo.
