Hakgala Botanical Gardens

Established in the year 1861 Hakgala Botanical Gardens was created for the purpose of experimentation and promotion of Cinchona cultivation in Sri Lanka located at an elevation of about 1745 meters above sea level in size is about 28 hectares.

The Botanical Garden is well known for the collection of the rose garden, magnificent trees, indoor plants, flora and fauna. The Garden also homes 10,000 species or flora planted during the spring season in Nuwara Eliya, where thousands of visitors flock the area for viewing and picnics that can create a wonderful experience with family and friends and as well as to visit the famous Orchid and rose house that blooms during this season.
