Gal Oya National Park

Located within the South East of Sri Lanka and to west of Ampara, Gal Oya National Park was established in the year 1965 being a part of one of Sri Lanka’s lesser known hidden gems inhabited with evergreen forests, savanna with 32 species of mammals and over 150 species of birds visible throughout the park.
Gal Oya National Park is well known for Senanayaka Samudraya where a short boat ride can take you to join the gentle giants crossing the river as a migration path. Once the boat stops to a halt you will get to see the swimming elephants of Senanayaka Samudraya which is a rare and unforgettable experience.
